Florida

Sophie and I flew down to Florida the weekend of my birthday to enjoy some sun, some sand and some family.

This was my first time flying alone with Sophie and overall it went really well.  She was great on the plane - thanks to the iPad, snacks, books, coloring book, stickers and more snacks.

In case you do not know what the most challenging part of my flight with a toddler was - it was when I had to use the bathroom. Seriously.  The flight was a breeze - having to use the facilities in a disgusting germ-infested airport bathroom when your toddler wants to sit on the ground, pick up stuff on the ground, look under the stall and then try to climb under the stall - that was the most challenging part.

Once we made it down to Florida, we were welcomed by Gaga and made our way to the condo.  Sophie passed out not long after we got there and slept the afternoon away.  After dinner, I took her down to the beach so that she could see would would await her the next morning. Sure enough, as soon as she woke up she wanted to go outside. She even tried to escape a few times through the railing on the porch.

After the sunblock was applied, we headed out into the sun. Sophie loved running up and down the beach chasing after all the birds (especially the sandpipers). She loved collecting seashells, running into the waves and then running away from the waves and digging in the sand. Once her grandma, Bubba and the uncles arrived and showered her with even more attention, she was in absolute heaven for the weekend. It was definitely hard to leave...although we had a very happy dad waiting for us when we got home!
