Sophie is 17 months old tomorrow. Wow! That's hard to believe. It's quite amazing how much she is becoming a little girl. She is daring and inquisitive. She is stubborn and independent. She is loving and affectionate. She is a wonderful blend of both Blake and myself, but I fear she favors a bit of her mom in regards to her temper when she gets upset (hitting and "pinching" has begun - yikes!).
She has been doing great since her tubes were put in at the beginning of November. She has had some drainage in the last week, but nothing concerning and it's actually assuring us that the tubes are working and that fluid is just not remaining stagnant and infecting those ear canals. We also believe (unless it is a coincidence of timing) that it is helping with her speech. She is attempting new words and has added quite a few to her library. A short list (including some oldies and newbies): Mama, Dada, Max, Elmo, pizza, please, thank you, cracker, snack, sock, shoe, milk, teeth, dog, cat, puppy, moo, baa, neigh, and ra ra ra for oink. No idea where that last one came from! There are many more Sophie words - but I'll keep it short for now!
If I had to name a favorite activity for Sophie (besides reading!), it would have to be helping out her parents. She loves to help her dad feed the pets. She enjoys taking the food scoops and emptying into both Max and Chloe's bowls. She also likes to help you put away laundry (unfolding it in the process) and emptying the dishwasher. I cannot dare empty the dishwasher now without her help or she gets very mad. That kid is strong too. After we got back from a trip to Target this past weekend, she proceeded to walk over to the Tide bottle and pick it up for me - and those bottles are not light! Picture below of Sophie waiting for me to hand her more cups to put away:
We have also been having fun with Sophie's hair. One night while her dad was working late, we thought it would be funny to put every bow she owns in her hair. Result below:
We have also been having fun with pigtails. And she looks pretty darn cute in them!:
