So Blake and I decided to be adventurous and take Sophie to her first circus at the age of 13.5 months! As most of you know, Sophie has a really hard time sitting still. Since she has discovered the art of walking, she is constantly on the go. This was going to be interesting!
We arrived about 25 minutes before show time and met up with our friends John and Anna and their 14.5 month old son, Declan. Anna actually attended Mooseheart and had informed us of the circus. We all found seats - great ones - next to the curtain where the performers and animals would enter/exit and on the ground level - so an easy escape route. We took our seats and the heat began to rise in the tent and the mosquitoes began to bite. Amazingly enough, Sophie did not get one bug bite. Her mother and father; however, did.
1:30pm and the show begins! Sophie was in awe from the get go. She could not stop staring at the curtain, waiting for who/what would enter next. She loved the animal acts. She actually would laugh out loud and clap when she was enjoying what was happening out in the ring. She loved the dogs with their tricks, the mini horses and of course, the elephants. The final act was centered around the 3 circus elephants. That kid did not make a peep while those elephants were out there or when they ran by. She sat still the entire time.
She did an amazing job for those 2 hours that we were under the big top tent. She had such a good time and we were proud of her for being so well behaved! It was a ton of fun and a great end to the weekend!
