Blake went out and got Sophie her first toothbrush and toothpaste today. Bubble gum flavor. Yum. Sophie thoroughly enjoyed her first taste of toothpaste. So much so that she preferred to just suck on the toothbrush vs. letting me continue the brushing motion I was trying very hard to do. I feel I was semi-successful in the first brushing and surprisingly enough she let me "brush" for a bit before she took over and wanted to do it herself.
Another big event that took place tonight was that Sophie did not receive her good night bottle. I think this is going to be harder on Mom and Dad than Sophie. This is like one of the last true baby elements about her. Sure, we are going to be in diapers for a while, but just confirms that our baby is growing up and is a big girl with her collection of sippy cups we have begun to accumulate. We decided to begin the weaning process this weekend as we are now over the 12 month mark and need to begin taking away the morning bottle and eventually the night time bottle from her life and it just so happened that we didn't do the night time bottle this evening. She actually did fine. Which I assumed since she does not have a true attachment to her bottles. I, on the other hand, missed our cuddle time since I usually handle the night bottle and Blake the morning bottle. Sure, we cuddled and read "Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See" twice, but I missed the cradling of my baby drinking her baba. The ease of going to bed without her bottle was probably also helped out by the fact that she had almost an entire can of green beans - seriously her favorite vegetable and she just devours them, almost a whole chicken breast and some spaghetti noodles. I guess she likes chicken parmesan! We'll see how the weaning process goes the rest of the weekend...
